Vietnamese star players celebrated the Lunar New Year with their families and loved ones across the country before returning to football.
Naturalized striker Nguyen Xuan Son, alongside his wife Marcele Seippel and their two sons, dressed in red ao dai to mark the arrival of the Year of the Snake. This is the Brazilian-born striker's sixth Tet in Vietnam but his first as a Vietnamese citizen.
Son played a key role in Vietnam's 2024 ASEAN Cup triumph, scoring seven goals in four matches. He was named the tournament's best player and top scorer. However, he suffered a broken leg in the final against Thailand and is expected to be sidelined for at least nine months after surgery.
Defender Doan Van Hau (L), his wife Doan Hai My and their son returned to Thai Binh Province for Tet, celebrating New Year's Eve with their parents and family.
Hau remains unable to return to competition after more than a year of treatment for a heel injury.
Goalkeeper Nguyen Dinh Trieu also returned to Thai Binh with his wife and daughter to celebrate Tet with his mother.
Trieu was Vietnam's starting goalkeeper during the 2024 ASEAN Cup, playing six matches, including the semifinals and final, helping the team secure the title. He was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
Goalkeeper Dang Van Lam (R) and his wife Yen Xuan gathered with their parents and siblings to take family photos for the new year. The Vietnamese-Russian goalkeeper is also preparing to welcome his first child, as Xuan is in the final weeks of her pregnancy and expecting a baby boy.
Defender Que Ngoc Hai, his wife Duong Thuy Phuong and their two daughters spent Tet in their hometown Nghe An in central Vietnam. Last year, the family celebrated Tet in the southern province of Binh Duong, where Hai's club is based in.
Midfielder Nguyen Trong Hoang and his wife shared a romantic moment awaiting the arrival of the new year. A key player in Vietnam’s 2018 AFF Cup-winning squad and the U23 team’s 2019 SEA Games gold medal campaign, Hoang currently plays for Hong Linh Ha Tinh FC.

Defender Tran Dinh Trong (R) and his wife celebrated Tet with their two children, parents, and younger brother. Once considered one of Vietnam’s top center-backs under coach Park Hang-seo, Trong has struggled with injuries and has not featured for the national team in recent years. He currently plays for Cong An Ha Noi.
Goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung (R) returned to Thanh Hoa Province with his model wife and children to celebrate Tet with his family. Dung now plays for SHB Da Nang after terminating his contract with HCMC FC ahead of schedule.
