Jordan, 39, took home the Oscar for Best Actor at the 98th Academy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday. His highly celebrated victory was widely considered a well-deserved recognition for his versatile and powerful dual performance as twin brothers Smoke and Stack in Ryan Coogler's hit film "Sinners."
While his achievements on screen are globally known, few fans are aware of his presence in the world of football. Jordan is currently one of the co-owners of AFC Bournemouth, a club standing 10th in the Premier League this season.
Jordan purchased his minority stake in Bournemouth in early 2023 and became a co-owner alongside American billionaire Bill Foley, who serves as the main shareholder, and a group of investors, according to ESPN.
This financial move is part of a growing, high-profile trend of Hollywood stars and global celebrities investing in English football.
Under Jordan and the new investment group, Bournemouth has continued to make steady, impressive progress on the pitch. Despite not spending heavily this season, Bournemouth have proven to be a tough team to play against, with the leadership of manager Andoni Iraola.
Following the Oscar announcement, many Premier League supporters and film enthusiasts expressed their surprise and pride on social media. Many hailed the milestone as a historic crossover moment, when an active owner of a top-flight English football club secured the world's most prestigious film award.
