Vanessa Trump, the girlfriend of golf legend Tiger Woods, has publicly announced her breast cancer diagnosis and requested privacy as she focuses on her health and recovery.
In an emotional Instagram post on Wednesday, the 48-year-old wrote: "I've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. While this isn't news anyone expects, I'm working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan."
The former daughter-in-law of Donald Trump also expressed her gratitude to the medical professionals who performed a procedure on her earlier in the week.
"I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me," she added.
Vanessa has five children with her ex-husband, Donald Trump Jr., including Kai (19), Donald III (17), Tristan (14), Spencer (13) and Chloe (11).
"Thank you for your kindness and support. It truly means more than I can express. I kindly ask for privacy as I focus on my health and recovery," she wrote.
The post quickly drew an outpouring of support, including a comment from her former sister-in-law, Ivanka Trump, who wrote: "Praying for your continued strength and a swift recovery. Love you mama."
Vanessa's diagnosis came during an already turbulent period in her personal life. The announcement was made shortly after her boyfriend completed a six-week treatment program in Switzerland following a DUI arrest and car crash-related charges.
Woods faced charges for driving under the influence and refusing to submit to a urine test. According to court documents obtained by People, the 50-year-old golfer pleaded not guilty to the charges during a hearing on March 31. He returned to Florida in mid-May.
Insiders added that Vanessa and Woods remain deeply committed and supportive of one another. Vanessa is reportedly eager to help her boyfriend maintain his progress and move beyond the public controversies, which both of them try to avoid.
