Nguyen Thi Anh Vien, widely regarded as Vietnam's most decorated swimmer, won the women's 10km race at the Oceanman Maldives 2026 open water swimming championship.
Vien finished first with a time of 2 hours 30 minutes and 22 seconds, matching the leading male athlete.
"This is my first time swimming 10km in the sea, an unforgettable experience," she wrote on her personal page. "The Maldives sea is still blue and beautiful, but today's 10km journey was a very difficult challenge. I fought my hardest and reached the finish line with everything I had."

Vien also competed in the 2km and team relay categories in the event taking place on April 10-11.
She won gold in the 2km race, ranked first in the women's 30-39 age group, and helped secure first place in the women's team event.
"It was a truly special competition for me, swimming amidst the stunning scenery of the Maldives," she added.
